The Infamous Apartment Metaphor

I'd like to set the record straight on this peculiar apartment metaphor.

Rich and I were having a little discussion about starting a blog together. I said I'd be happy to be part of a collaborative blog, but that I'd like to still have my own blog. Rich didn't get why that was so important, when I could just have my own section of our collaborative blog. I said I liked to have something that's seperate.

Rich: "But they'll both be on blogspot.com so they're not even that seperate anyway."

Carly: "Its like the difference between having a room in a shared apartment and having one's own apartment in a shared apartment building. It's about ownership, you know. Complete control."

"Why do you need your own apartment? Do you want to walk around naked?"

"Maybe. But of course, there'll be a big window where people could look in....but still, I could walk around naked anytime I want."

"Can people take pictures of you through the window?"

"Bah"

Anyway. I'm glad I have my own blog. I like it.
